Dubai at Last!

We made it to Dubai after flying 15:50 hours. We were fed often on the plane, it seems all we have done so far is eat and sit. The seats, well they were quite cramped with minimal leg room. Everyone slept, played games, watched movies or TV shows and got up to walk the very narrow aisles to stretch and use the restroom or as they say in Dubai, the toilets. It took quite awhile to check in at LAX and go through security. Two of the students were pulled out for additional screening. Some students changed money at the airport then on we went to the gate. We got to the gate close to boarding so we didn’t need to wait long.

Once we arrived in Dubai, we walked down to bathrooms and customs then met our tour bus. We had the bus for six hours. We started our tour at 8:30pm Dubai time, that’s 11 hours ahead of California time. We first stopped to watch a light and water show in front of the tallest building in the world. Very awesome! It was 100 degrees when we landed in Dubai and humid. Being by the water didn’t help the humidity index.

We shopped in a souvenir shop next to the Dubai mall then walked over to the Dubai Mall. The mall is very
big and it isn’t even the only large mall in Dubai. This mall has “high end” stores similar to Rodeo Drive, an ice rink and an underwater zoo and aquarium. The aquarium was visible from the mall on two sides with very big fish, sharks and rays.

We stopped at a water park and took pictures of the front entrance. The water park was next to the Burj Al Arab,"Arab Tower", also known as "Arab Sail") Hotel – it’s shaped like a ship. It’s very exclusive and expensive, the only 7 star hotel in the world. There are 211 rooms, all suites.

We ate dinner at the Lebanese Village Restaurant. There was so much food and it was delicious. After dinner we checked into the Millennium Hotel and went to bed. Wake up calls to come in four hours.
